About The Book

Honey Halake

I was born in the small town of Yabello, Ethiopia. My family and community endured immense hardship under the oppressive Ethiopian regime, forcing us to flee our homeland and seek refuge in Kenya. My journey began at a young age, taking me through Uganda and eventually to the United States.

The day I left for America was particularly heart-wrenching—my mother couldn’t accompany me because my younger sister, just six years old, was dying from a brain tumor. I came to the U.S. with the hope of building a better life for my family. Along the way, I faced unimaginable challenges, including surviving encounters with serial killers and enduring assault.

My experiences have shaped who I am today, and I am committed to sharing my story with the world, hoping it might inspire others who have faced similar struggles.
