Born in the small town of Yabello, Ethiopia, I grew up amidst the turmoil of an oppressive regime that forced my family and me to flee our homeland. Our journey as refugees took us through Kenya and Uganda, with the hope of finding safety and a better life. My path eventually led me to the United States, but leaving home was bittersweet—my mother stayed behind to care for my younger sister, who was tragically battling a fatal brain tumor at just six years old.

The challenges I faced along the way were harrowing. From surviving encounters with serial killers to enduring assault, my journey was marked by pain and perseverance. Yet, these experiences have instilled in me a deep resilience and a desire to share my story with the world. Through my writing, I aim to shed light on the struggles I’ve overcome and inspire others to find strength in their own journeys.
